From the Church Porch
|
Roger makes sure that the Traidcaft Stall is well-stocked with sugar, tea, coffee, biscuits and much more. He explains why buying in this way is so important. |
"The aim of the Traidcraft stall is to promote fair trade issues. The more people that buy fair trade goods, either from us or from big supermarkets, the more effective we can be in attacking the causes of poverty in developing countries."

Allestree Churches Together (ACT)
|
Broadway, in common with the other churches in the Greater Allestree Area, is a member of Allestree Churches Together. Carl tells us a little about ACT activities. |
We have a number of joint events though the year. At the begining of December we meet at the Holy Family Church for a quiet evening with prayer and reflection, followed by refreshments. In January we have the octave of prayer for Christian Unity. This commences with a unity lunch at Broadway on the Saturday. On the following Friday we meet at St. Paul's Quarndon for a joint communion service. The Saturdays of Lent see us meet ing for frugal lunches at each church in turn. The money raised is used to support the church in Nagpur, India.

Highfield Farm Eggs
|

Please contact Claire on 01335 348843 by Wednesday night if you wish to change your order of eggs for Sunday.
|
Since 1997 Bill Still has been collecting eggs each week from Highfields Farm at Etwall so that we can buy our fresh free-range eggs when we turn up for church on Sundays. Claire Flux has now taken over this role.
Highfields Farm, also known to us as 'Happy Hens', engages in valuable work with young people experiencing a range of problems.
The small profit from the sale of eggs has been used to support work at Broadway and that of Stuart and Georgie Christine in Brazil.

East Midlands Baptist Association (Derbyshire)
There was a good turn out among the ladies of Broadway for the Women’s Fellowship Day on 13th March at Willersley Castle The day was led by Rev.Jill Willett, a Baptist Minister from Coalville. Jill's theme for thee day was “Walking with Jesus”. Good food for both body and soul! |
Miss Violet May Hunt left £10,000 several years ago in a legacy to encourage spiritual growth in the Baptist Women of Derbyshire. In addition to subsidising the Fellowship Days, the Trust makes grants to individual women pursuing a special Christian interest in this country or abroad. Interested? Contact Enid on 01332 516015 |

The Padley Centre is always close to our hearts. We keep a collection box in the church porch. Margaret tells us: "Just one item, regularly, from your weekly shop would make a huge difference to those in real need". |
